The Junior Professorship for Finance, which was established in 2019, is part of the Institute for Finance (FBV), which also includes the Department of Financial Engineering and Derivatives, the Department of Finance and Banking, and the Department of Financial Economics and Risk Management. The junior professorship is held by Julian Thimme.

Financial institutions provide services that are important for the smooth allocation of capital in an economy. However, recent technological advances allow companies called "FinTechs" to challenge banks' traditional business models. This lecture will discuss recent developments and opportunities in Centralized and Decentralized Finance.

In this master seminar, various recent papers at the intersection of the fields of Big Data and Finance will be discussed. In addition, students will complement the discussion with our their analyses of a dataset that is provided by us.
